Basic rules for using facial masks

Always use masks in accordance with the type and condition of your skin!

Be very careful. Homemade masks as well as commercial products of renowned companies can cause allergic reactions. Do not apply new masks before doing a quick allergy test. For this purpose you will need to dab a small amount of the mask to the crease of your elbow and wait for 5-10 minutes. If any sign of irritation appears, then discard the mask and do not risk using it.

Use only quality products when preparing masks at home. Do not use fruits or vegetables that have started to go bad or any products past their expiration date. Homemade masks should be prepared immediately before use.

All masks should be applied to a well cleansed face with no remaining traces of makeup; otherwise the nutrients will not be properly absorbed in the skin. Also, the combination of the mask and left over makeup may cause allergic reactions.

Do not apply the mask to the skin around the eyes or over the lids unless it is a special eye area product.

Always spread the mask in the direction of the facial massage lines – from the center of the face outward.

If possible, lie down for the duration of the procedure and try to relax as much as you can.

Do not exceed the recommended duration. This will not enhance the mask’s effectiveness, but may cause inflammation. The usual duration is 15-20 minutes if not otherwise specified.

Remove the mask with light, gentle strokes to avoid irritating the skin. Use a cotton ball dipped in mineral water or herbal brew. After the mask, apply a lotion suitable for your skin type. If your skin is dry or sensitive use a nourishing lotion. If you have normal or oily skin, rinse the mask with a tonic lotion.
